DAY 12: HVITSERKUR AND THE WESTFJORDS

Monday, June 5, 2017: Today, we left the north and drove west to the Westfjords. We stopped to see the Hvitserkur rock formation. It was much larger than I expected and it was pretty cool.

Seabirds nest up in the crevices.

The Atlantic Ocean is pretty cold from this far north!

This is the major gas station in Iceland. We stopped for snacks and this is what Michael ended up with. They tasted as bad as they seemed.

We ended the day at our rental house in the Westfjords for the night. It is definitely the most dated place we have stayed at so far, but the largest with 4 bedrooms. Tomorrow, we head to the Snaefellsnes peninsula.

FROM MICHAEL:

I ate camel poop candy today. It tasted like camel poop.

FROM MIKE:

I didn't pee outside today.

MY RANDOM THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY:

This part of the country has been my least favorite. The landscape just isn't nearly as impressive. I guess even Iceland has flat land (or flater, anyway) and wide open plains.

We saw lots of adorable sheep with their baby lambs today.

Today wasn't very exciting but I guess every day can't be jammed packed with excitement. I chalk this day up to a driving-over-to-the-next-excitement kind-of-day.
