Wednesday, June 7, 2017: We left the peninsula and headed to the Highlands. We did the Into the Glacier tour. It involved a 20 minute drive up a mountain on an F road (must have 4x4) and then a 30 minute drive in a snow monster truck up the Langjokull glacier (which means long glacier) to the tunnel opening at 4100 feet. The snow vehicle used to be a NATO missile launcher. How cool is that?! Oh...and it was snowing!!!!!!!
Then, we drove to our very last cabin in Reykholt for our very last night of our Iceland epic adventure.
FROM MICHAEL:
I went into a glacier today.
FROM MIKE:
Last night of dayness.
MY RANDOM THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY:
So, most people know that I am claustrophobic. I was so proud of myself today because I did not get nervous or scared or claustrophobic one bit today in that tunnel. Yay me!! It was a super cool experience!
I never thought I would miss darkness. I do.
The two things I most looking forward to seeing tomorrow night (really, Friday very, very early): my animals and the night sky.
