Tuesday, June 6, 2017: We left the Westfjords and drove to the Snaefellsnes peninsula today. The landscape is really beautiful on the peninsula.
We stopped for lunch in Stykkisholmur. I had fish soup and Arctic Char. Mike had Lamb Goulash and a hamburger. And, as usual, Michael had a hamburger and fries.
We arrived at our Airbnb rental apartment for the night. We like it!
We drove over to the end of the peninsula and explored Snaefellsnes National Park. We saw the beautiful Snaefellsjokull glacier and we climbed a volcano and looked into its' crater!
We saw lava fields all around the park.
We went and explored around the lighthouse. In case you are curious, WC means bathroom here.
We then stopped at the oldest concrete church in Iceland.
We stopped at some turf houses on the drive back. The woman in the picture is actually eating the house. It was strange.
FROM MICHAEL:
I did stuff today. That's it.
FROM MIKE:
I'm not gonna say it was aliens but it was aliens.
MY RANDOM THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY:
The roads getting from the Westfjords to the peninsula were the worst yet. I so appreciate modern infrastructure like paved roads.
We thought we were going to get a flat tire today. It was nerve-racking. We were in the middle of nowhere with spotty cell service.
So, Snaefellsjokull is known to be one of the seven energy stations on the planet. Locals believe aliens come to visit. Also, supernatural phenomenon is experienced here because of this vortex of energy. Well, we actually had an experience. Both mine and Mike's camera memory cards malfunctioned at the exact same time and neither of them have failed us once. It was definitely some strange energy we were feeling, as well.
